*Intuitive Eating: Making Peace with Food, Body, & Movement (10 weeks)

Description:

This class is virtual via Zoom! There are 3 options for Fall 2021:

  • Mondays (12:00 - 1:15pm): Sept 20, 27, Oct 18, 25, Nov 1, 8, 15, 29, Dec 6, 13
  • Tuesdays (6:00 - 7:15pm): Sept 21, 28, Oct 5, 19, 26, Nov 2, 9, 30, Dec 7, 14
  • Wednesdays (5:30 - 6:45pm): Sept 22, 29, Oct 6, 20, 27, Nov 3, 10, Dec 1, 8, 15

Come make peace with your food, body, and movement by learning and practicing the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating! Intuitive Eating is all about creating a healthy relationship around food, body, mind, and movement through self-care and body appreciation, regardless of weight or size. The main concepts in Intuitive Eating include seeing satisfaction and pleasure in eating, moving your body for the sake of feeling good, rejecting diet mentality, respecting your body (regardless of how you feel about its shape), and applying gentle nutrition without judgment.

Founded in now decades of research, becoming an Intuitive Eater pays off. Several of the research-supported health benefits include:

Join us over the next 10 weeks as we dive into each principle and begin practicing them. Each class will be 45-60 minutes long and will involve education, practical application, and reflection. Here is a breakdown of each week:

  • Week 8: Respect Your Body
  • Week 9: Feel the Difference with Movement
  • Week 10: Honor Your Health with Gentle Nutrition

Nikole is a graduate student at the University of Utah studying Health Education Specialization & Wellness Coaching, and is a member of the student-led Love Your Body Project. She is also Health At Every Size®-aligned and a member of both the Association for Size Diversity & Health and Intuitive Eating organizations. 

Nikole is passionate about overall holistic health & wellness, helping people grow self-confidence in their abilities to make positive changes, and cultivating a growth mindset towards challenges, especially in regards to preventing and/or healing from chronic yo-yo ("fad") dieting, disordered eating, and/or poor body image. She approaches wellness with particular focus on weight inclusivity, health enhancement, respectful care, eating for wellbeing, and life-enhancing movement.

Nikole also enjoys educating and interacting with individuals in her 10-week Intuitive Eating courses, the U's 4-day Build-A-Bone courses, and various mindfulness/resiliency presentations.
